1. What is included when I buy this product?

The Bluetooth Essential Mist starter pack will include the following; Essential Mist Bluetooth diffuser, fragrance refill and X3 AA/ LR6 Batteries.

2. What’s the difference between this product and other air fresheners on the market?

The Air Wick Essential Mist Aroma diffuser is based on piezo technology. Using a piezoelectric transducer, (a diffuser that converts small amounts of energy from one kind into another) electrical energy is converted into extremely rapid mechanical vibrations. The vibrating plate oscillates on top of a saturated wick connected to our fragrance which will release a burst of mist and fragrance at certain intervals.

It contains natural essential oils that transform into a fine fragrance mist. The mist released fills your room with fragrances for a more natural atmosphere.

3. How does this product work?

4. How is Essential Mist powered?

Essential Mist is powered by an electrical circuit, generated by x3 AA/ LR6 batteries. 

5. How do I know when to change the batteries?

You will receive a reminder in the app to let you know the batteries are running low and need replacing soon. You can also find the battery status at any time by visiting the specific diffuser in the application and viewing “Battery Status”

The device will stop generating and releasing the mist and fragrance. The blue LED light surrounding the nozzle will also stop lighting up.
Depending on the intensity of the setting you have selected, the batteries will generally last for 3 refills.

6. What are the best batteries to use in the device?

When necessary replace the batteries with new, good quality, alkaline batteries. We do not recommend that you use zinc-carbon batteries or rechargeable ones as these may not have enough power to operate your diffuser for long periods.

7. How do I set up my device?

Make sure the diffuser is turned off and directed away from the face. Open the diffuser by holding the shroud firmly in one hand and placing the other hand underneath the base as a support. 

  1. Using the thumb of the hand holding the shroud push down from the top. The shroud should be released from the main diffuser, exposing the refill bottle and batteries.
  2. Insert x 3 AA batteries into the appropriate slots.
  3. Remove the old refill by gentle pulling it in a downwards movement away from the top of the diffuser. Insert a new refill by removing the plastic lid of the refill bottle and pushing the exposed wick in an upwards motion into the head of the diffuser. A clicking noise will be heard when inserted correctly and fully.

8. How long does a refill last for/ how do I know when I need to insert a refill?

If the blue led light at the top of your device continues to show, however no mist or fragrance is released the refill may need replacing. Depending on the intensity of the setting selected this is typically between 16 – 45 days. 

9. What do I do with empty Essential Mist Aroma refills?

Dispose of the empty glass bottle or recycle according to local regulations.

10. What does the blue light mean?

Once the diffuser is turned on the blue light will flash to indicate that the diffuser is on and ready to pair. Once paired, the blue light will light up when set to spray.

The blue light will flash to indicate the device has been turned on.  It will also light when the device is releasing fragrance.

11. How do I turn the device off?

The furthest left option on the control panel, located at the bottom of the device is the off switch. This will turn the device off and no mist or fragrance will be released. If the device is not going to be used for long periods of time, it is suggested that the refill and/or batteries are removed and the cap is added to the refill.

12. What if I forget to turn the device off?

Essential Mist is designed to automatically turn off after 8 hours of use. No mist or fragrance will be released after this duration. Once the refill is empty the device will no longer spray. Please turn off the device and replace the refill. The device may emit a high pitched sound at regular intervals to indicate that the refill is empty and device requires a new refill.

 

13. What if I want to change the start time or running time of my device?

When the switch on the control panel is moved from the off position to either of the 3 settings (min, med, max) the device is turned on and will run for 8 hours unless switched off. By moving the switch to the off position during the 8 hour cycle will terminate that cycle. Once turned on again, the timer will reset and a new 8 hour cycle will begin. Changing the intensity setting will not reset the cycle. 

 

14. Where should I keep my device?

The device is suitable to be placed on any flat surface e.g. Shelf or cupboard unit. It should not be kept near a heating source or in direct sunlight. The device should be kept out of reach of children and pets and used in well ventilated areas.

 

15. My device is not working. What to do?

Check the device is turned off and directed away from the face. Ensure the spray nozzle is visible at the top of the device. If not you may have incorrectly replaced the shroud which may prevent the release of fragrance.

Check the fragrance doesn’t need replacing. To do this open the device by holding the shroud firmly in one hand and placing the other hand underneath the base as a support. Using the thumb of the hand holding the shroud push down from the top. The shroud should be released from the main device, exposing the refill bottle and batteries. You should be able to see the level of fragrance remaining in the refill bottle. If there is no fragrance left the refill needs replacing.

If there is still fragrance remaining, make sure the refill bottle is fully inserted into the device. If this has come dislodged or is not inserted correctly, it may result in failure of mist generation.

You should also check the batteries are still operating. To do this open the device as before and replace the batteries with x3 new AA/LR6 batteries. Reinstate the shroud and turn the device on. If the device still fails to emit a mist call the Airwick help line on: 1-800-228-4722 (U.S./É.-U.) 1-800-888-0192 (Canada).

 

16. Is this product/ the mist dangerous or toxic?

Product Safety evaluation and risk assessment has been carried out based on review of the safety of each of the raw ingredients and exposure assessment relevant to this format. Based on the information provided to Product Safety and the available toxicological data available in literature on the raw material categories, the proposed Air Wick Essential Mist Aroma diffuser and formulation variants do not pose a significant risk to human health when used appropriately and according to instructions.

17. What shall I do if I spill my Essential Mist refill (clothes, carpet, skin, eyes etc?)

Wipe up as much of the spill as possible using a soft cloth. Make sure hands are washed thoroughly after handling. If refill comes into contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water for 20 minutes. After this time if eye irritation persists, consult a doctor or healthcare professional. If swallowed consult a doctor or healthcare professional.

 

18. Can I use other product refills in my Essential Mist Aroma Diffuser?

Safety evaluation and toxicology reviews have not been performed on any other refills other than those designed and created by Air Wick, therefore it is not advised to use other refills with this diffuser.

19. Can I adjust the level of fragrance released?

The intensity of the fragrance can be adjusted using the intensity control when configuring a schedule. There are 5 levels of intensity designed to typically provide the following intensity.


If you find the mist/ intensity is too weak, adjust the diffuser to a higher setting as the setting you are using my not be suitable for the room in which the diffuser has been placed. 

20. Can I adjust the frequency of the fragrance released?

The frequency of the fragrance released can be adjusted also using the controls located at the bottom of the device. Higher intensity setting releases mist more regularly. See above table for frequency options.

21. What is the device is too strong/ weak for me?

If you find the mist/ intensity is too strong or weak, adjust the setting to either a higher or lower degree to suit your preference.

22. Can I get it in different colours?

No, at present Essential Mist is only available in matt black with glossy shroud.

23. Can I get alternative fragrances?

The starterkits are available in Lavender & Almond Blossoms and Fresh Water Breeze fragrancs. However, we offer refills with 5 premium scents - Lavender & Almond Blossom, Fresh Water Breeze, Mandarin & Sweet Orange, Peony & Jasmine, Cinnamon & Crisp Apple.

24. What are essential oils?

Essential oils are the oil of the plant from which they were extracted, such as oil of lavender flowers. This concentrated, natural oil contains the "essence of" the plant's fragrance—the characteristic fragrance of the plant from which it is derived. Essential oils are generally extracted from the natural flower or plant source by distillation, often by using steam. Other processes include expression, solvent extraction, absolute oil extraction, resin tapping, and cold pressing. They are used in perfumes, cosmetics, soaps and other products, for flavoring food and drink, and for adding scents to incense and household cleaning products.

25. How do I connect my Essential Mist Diffuser to my phone?

  1. Download the Air Wick app via Apple store or Google play
  2. Follow the guided instructions in the app to set up your account and diffuser. Upon creating your account, the application will prompt you to connect your diffuser. 
  3. Ensure your phone’s Bluetooth® is switched on. Then, click on “Connect to Air Wick Essential Mist.”
  4. When the next screen appears, turn on your Bluetooth Essential Mist diffuser and wait for it to connect. The diffuser’s blue light should be blinking to show it’s in pairing mode. Once connected the diffuser will flash slowly to show it is connected to your phone.
  5. This will lead you to a new screen to confirm you have connected your diffuser.

 

26. How do I change my fragrance?

  1. Make sure the device is turned off and directed away from the face. Open the device by holding the shroud firmly in one hand and placing the other hand underneath the base as a support.
    Using the thumb of the hand holding the shroud push down from the top. The shroud should be released from the main device, exposing the refill bottle and batteries.
  2. Remove the outer cover from the diffuser.
  3. Remove the refill from the diffuser and replace the refill cap.
  4. Insert the new refill and select in app your new fragrance if you have change it. Click the “Change” button on the home screen of your diffuser - next to the fragrance name, then select the fragrance and click save. The background will then change to your selected fragrance!
  5. Replace outer cover on the diffuser and start enjoying your new scent!


27. How do I create a new schedule?

  1. Select “Add New” under the “Schedule” section on the Home page
  2. Choose to create your own schedule, or select one of the pre-set schedules
  3. If you create your own, enter in your desired Start time, End time, Name and intensity. If you would like the schedule to repeat, select the day(s) you would like it to repeat. If a day is lit up as “green” it means you have selected it to repeat that day
  4. Click “Save”


28. How long will my refill last for?

Use this table to see if your refills could be running low. This is based off using your diffuser for 8 hours every day:


29. What happens if I lose connection to my diffuser/ my phone is not connected to the diffuser via Bluetooth because I am more than 30 feet away?

The diffuser will keep the schedules you have set.  Once you reconnect via Bluetooth you can change the schedules or turn the diffuser off manually.

10 Schedules per diffuser.

31. How many diffusers can I connect to my phone?

You can connect up to 10 diffusers to your phone.

32. How do I delete my account?

From the settings page you will be able delete your account. Scroll to the bottom of the page select delete account and your account will be deleted from the system.

33. How do I delete my data?

34. What is the difference between this product and other air fresheners on the market?

Air Wick Essential Mist contains natural essential oils that transform into a fine fragrance mist.   

The Bluetooth Essential Mist provides enhanced control over your fragrance experience, with ability to customize fragrance schedules & intensity via an app on your smartphone.

35. How do I download the app?

You can download the “Air Wick” app either on the Google ® Play Store or the Apple ®  App Store.

36. How do I set up an account on the app?

When first launching the app, you will be greeted by a screen prompting you to log in. Click on the “Create Account” button. Fill in the information as required including a secure password. The app will then take you through the process to create an account and log in.


37. What happens if I lose connection to my diffuser?

The diffuser will keep the schedules you have set.  Once you reconnect via Bluetooth you can change the schedules or turn the diffuser off manually using the switch on the diffuser.

Using the thumb of the hand holding the outer cover, push down from the top. The cover should be released from the main diffuser, exposing the refill bottle and batteries. You should be able to see the level of fragrance remaining in the refill bottle. If there is no fragrance left the refill needs replacing.

If there is still fragrance remaining, make sure the refill bottle is fully inserted into the diffuser. If this has come dislodged or is not inserted correctly, it may result in failure of mist generation.

39. What data is stored from the App and my account?

Data usage and storage policy can be found in in the Terms & Conditions and the Privacy Policy found in the settings section of the Air Wick application.

40. What do the 5 intensities mean?

The intensities refer to the frequency of which fragrance is released and how long the diffuser sprays for.  1 is the lowest, 5 is the highest.

41. How do I start receiving notifications?

Manage your app notifications via the settings page to turn notifications on or off.

42. How do I change my diffuser name?

At the bottom of the diffuser settings choose add nickname.

43. What shall I do if I spill my Essential Mist Refill?

45. Troubleshooting

If your diffuser is not connecting to your app, after turning the diffuser on and checking Bluetooth® is enabled on your phone, try the following solutions:

When turning your diffuser on:

  • Check the ring on top of the diffuser starts flashing blue. If it is not lighting up check your batteries are new, securely and correctly inserted in the diffuser.
  • Ensure you are within 30 feet of the diffuser.
  • To turn the diffuser on check the switch near the bottom and on the side of the diffuser. If the switch is above the circle the diffuser will be set off, move over the line to turn it on

Pairing issues:

  • Ensure the diffuser is turned on before you attempt to connect.
  • Check the diffuser is in pairing mode. The blue light on top of the diffuser will be flashing to indicate it is trying to find a new device to connect to.
  • If the diffuser is on and there is no light, turn the diffuser off and on again to go back into pairing mode. The light should be flashing again.
  • If the diffuser is on and the blue light is not flashing but glowing (or slowly pulsing), this means the diffuser has connected to a different device. Turn the diffuser off and on again to retry pairing to your device.
  • Only try to pair one diffuser to your device at a time.
  • If you have already paired with a diffuser, but lost connection to it, make sure you are within 30 feet of the diffuser and wait for the app to refresh. If you have multiple diffusers connected swap between diffuser home pages to refresh the page. If it still doesn’t appear to be connecting, turn the diffuser on and off again and then the page will refresh connected to your diffuser. Do not go into “Add Diffuser” if you have already paired to that diffuser with your account on your device.
  • When on the pairing screen (where the App is looking for a diffuser to connect to), ensure that the diffuser is in pairing mode too (the blue light is flashing on the diffuser).
  • Make sure the app has location services turned on so that it can connect to the diffuser.

When a notification pops up from your device to pair to the diffuser, press pair, otherwise the app will have issues connecting to your diffuser.
